Membership ....... We need YOU !

To enable the Group to deliver urgently needed outcomes, your contribution through membership and donation is welcomed. This assistance is sought to make a significant contribution to 'Enriching the lives of people with disability, families and carers'

This is an exciting time as the Group is being asked to do more and continues to make a difference. However, the Group needs your support as the demand for more services, programs and opportunities are developed and made available, for people with disability.

Everyone will at some time in their lives be touched by disability.

The Group aspires to achieve a lasting and positive impact for people with disability, their families and carers by contributing to the public good. As a responsible Group it conducts itself in a way that benefits all, reflecting fundamental values that include integrity, openness, fairness and accountability, complimented by welcoming public interest and open communication.

The Group provides a hands-on service, by assisting to link the services that you need. So if you're stuck and don't know where to get the help, contact us. We'll point you in the right direction. The service is impartial, apolitical and non-sectarian. The Group endeavours to provide information that is current, accurate, relevant, and timely.  In addition the Group recognises the significant role of partnering organisations and that no single entity can satisfiy challenges alone with the best results being accomplished through sharing of knowledge and good practices.

Everyone will at some time in their lives be touched by disability. Whether you are born with a disability; acquire one through accident, disease or ageing; have a family member, a friend, or co-worker with a disability; or provide services to people with a disability, at some stage of your life you will be confronted by disability.

We believe that people with disability, their families and carers, like everyone else have abilities and talents to share in a positive way. As such all contribute to the diversity and uniqueness of humanity, but their help is rarely understood or recognised.

'People with a disability have a right to be, and our society has a responsibility to ensure, that this right is not violated. A normal human life cannot be defined nor can the normal way of achieving success and happiness. The only normal quality that exists among human beings is life itself''

The Group's Management Committee is made up of five office bearers (including an Advocate) together with three general members.  The Committee have the ultimate responsibility for the stewardship and corporate governance of the Group. A key role of the Management Committee is to research, advise and consult as widely as is practicable on any issues or recommendations requiring decision by members.  Further it ensures that each program and/or service is appropriately designed, integrated and focused delivering outcomes in the best possible way.

Matters dealt with by the Management Committee are reported to all members by way of minutes and at each general meeting.  Meetings are held on the third Saturday in the months of November, February, May and August. The annual general meeting is held in conjunction with the August general meeting.

To enable the Group to deliver urgently needed outcomes your contribution through membership and donation is welcomed. This assistance is sought to make a significant contribution and 'Enriching the lives of people with disability, families and carers'
