This week Disability Services Minister Hon. Helen Morton MLC and Group Patron Hon. Donna Faragher MLA both publicly stated their support for Jim Cairns and Rex Baker as they prepare to compete in the 2014 Australasian Safari from 20-27 September 2014.
Ms Morton said “Jim embodies the true ethos and vision of Count Me In, that all West Australians live in welcoming communities that promote citizenship, friendship, mutual support and a fair go for everyone,” and “The Disability Services Commission is providing support to Jim as he spreads the Count Me In message with people living in the rural and remote communities on the rally course”.
In her statement to parliament Group Patron and Member for East Metropolitan Hon. Donna Faragher wished ‘Jim, Rex and their supporters a safe journey’ adding that while ‘it is fair to say that this safari is not without risk’ she hopes ‘their participation will prove incredibly positive in spreading the message that everyone, irrespective of ability, can participate and make a significant contribution to the community’.
